Velvety Goodness

Trendsetter Solange was photographed rocking these funk purple crushed velvet pumps. It seems that purple shoes are also popping up as a trend this season!! If you're feeling the velvety goodness, you can get your hands on a pair of your own. Velvet pumps are popping up at retailers all over, it's definitly adding a little mix to the holidays. Wowzers! Trousers!

A great alternative from the norm of skinny jeans, leggings and their hybrid jeggings are trousers. They can be dressed up or down and you can find them in a wide range of colors and styles from high waist to boyfriend and cuffed capri to wide legs. Pair them with structural pieces such as blazers or with a fun flirty feminine top. A pair of great fitted trousers is definitely a good piece to have in your wardrobe.

Zip It Good!!

This post is inspired by the lovely pair of sunglasses you see above. They're Alexander Wang and retail at $365. The best part about these sunglasses is that I got the knock off pair from Aldo for five bucks (pictured below). I didn't think zipper trend would really be around this year and most certainly not for spring. But maybe, just maybe with the pieces featured below, you can sneak them into your wardrobe.

Knockin' the Boots!

 Some body rockin', knockin' the boots! I absolutely LOVE Dr. Marten boots. They so remind me of the 90s and grunge. I'm obsessed with anything 90s, it's by far my most favorite decade of fashion. Mainly because I wished I was older during most of it. Anyhow, if I die tomorrow bury me in Amber Rose's outfit, I think it'd make me very happy (She's wearing the 1460 Women's boot in Yellow, retailed at $115 dmusastore.com). Other celebs such as Solange and Ciara have been seen stomping around in these awesome boots.  A pair of Docs will set you back roughly $120 but they are SO worth it, they last FOREVER and to me personally will always be in style. However, if you can't shell out the cash for these pricey boots there are some alternatives. 

Hate it or Love It? Solange's Turban

Do you HATE it or LOVE it?

Last week Solange was spotted rocking a turban while attending the Ace Hotel After Party. Later that evening she performed "Stillness Is The Move" with the Dirty Projectors and did a cover of Groove Theory's "Tell Me". There's not doubt that I absolutely love Solange's music as well as her style, but I'm undecided on the turban. Hmmmm. Post your thoughts.
