Transitioning Your Wardrobe From Summer to Fall

I don't know about you guys but toward the end of summer I was ready to move into fall and I for one am glad it's here. Even though, being in California it isn't too much of a change yet. None the less, I'm ready to break out my boots and cardigans, fall is one of my favorite seasons! You definitely don't need to run out immediately and buy a whole new fall wardrobe. Ease into fall by adding a few fall pieces to your existing wardrobe. With a little remixing a lot of  your summer pieces can be worn into fall.

Essential Transition Pieces

1. Legwear
If you still have rompers or mini skirts you've yet to wear or aren't ready to retire just yet. Try adding a pair of tights or leggings to make them more fall appropriate. You don't have to stock up on maxi skirts and dresses. Throw on a cardigan and a pair of flat boots or oxfords for a casual look or dress it up with a crisp blazer and a pair of booties with your fave skirt, dress or romper.

2. Lightweight Knits
I'm a self declared cardigan queen! I own a ton of them and am borderline obsessed. They're just a perfect way to provide you a little protection as it starts getting cooler. It's a great way to allow you to still rock some of those cute summer sleeveless tops. Throw on a cardigan and some boots to make it more appropriate for fall. Don't be afraid to layer. Lightweight knits are great for layering and will provide you with a little extra warmth.

3. Scarves
If you also have a lot of lower cute tops and aren't in a hurry to scoop up higher cut tops and turtle necks throw on a light scarf. It'll add dimension to you look, keep you warm and is also a great accessory. Try adding a scarf with a pop of color to your more neutral toned outfits.

4. Jackets
It's fall, not winter. So don't go bringing out the heavy overcoats just yet. Throw on a light weight blazer, leather jacket or cargo jacket over your layered looks.
