"Change your clothes to tuxedos..."

I absolutely love Janelle Monae and she's been tearing it up on tour and all over television lately. She recently performed her first single "Tightrope" off her debut full length album The ArchAndroid on So You Think You Can Dance? showing off her moves, vocals, and her unique sense of style. If you're inspired by her to don your black and white here are great tuxedo inspired looks.

Under The Sea & Under $50

The sun is shinning and spring break is here, for those of you who actually have a spring break. This means, it's time to break out the swimsuits. If you're lucky you've found a timeless swimsuit that can last you year after year. If you're unlucky like most of us, this means you have to get out and find that perfect swimsuit.

American Apparel Nylon Tri-Cut High Waist Swim Brief $20

I've always wondered why swimsuits were so expensive. What if I don't want to wear the same suit year after year? What if I want to buy more than one? ($$$) Why does it have to cost an arm and a leg for the top, and then another arm and a leg for the bottoms? As with most things I own, I don't like to pay too much for it. So, here you have some selections of great swimwear for under $50 in a variety of styles. You're in there like swimwear!
Xhilaration Juniors Stripped Monokini, Target $30

She Sells Sea Shells By The Sea Shore

Try saying that 10 times fast! By now you can see the nautical trend is back again this spring. You'll either love it or hate it. Many may hate it because they aren't a fan of stripes. Me, I love stripes and navy is one of my most favorite colors to wear. Here are a couple of pieces to help you get your sea legs. (Pictured above: Motel LuLu Cardigan, KarmaLoop.com $55)

Truly Tribal

Today, photos were released from the video shoot of Alicia Keys' new single, "Put It In A Love Song" which features Beyonce. The video is being shot on location is Brazil and it's clear from the pictures that the video will have a tribal feel to it. Seeing Alicia Keys in this Boxing Kitten outfit, let me know that tribal and ethnic prints will still be big for spring!

Boxing Kitten was founded by Maya Lake who took her inspiration for the collection from Josephine Baker and her mother. Her designs have been worn by Solange, Erykah Badu, and Christina Milian. Alicia is featured wearing the Althea Skirt, I can't wait to see what else they'll be wearing in the vide!

If you can't afford to get your hands on any of Boxing Kitten's fabulous clothes, here are my picks of how you can rock the big and bold tribal trend this spring for less.
