Green Nails: Eco-Friendly Nail Polish Options

Nope, this isn't a post about the hottest green shades to try for spring. This post is about all natural and vegan friendly nail polish. Probably didn't know that even existed right? Well, truth is there are a number of eco-friendly nail polish options. I'm obsessed with nail polish and my collection seems to be growing and growing. Recently, I found out about natural nail polish and am going to now make a conscious effort to try more natural brand products. These products are free of toxins that really aren't good for us. Such as:

Formaldehyde: Exposure to this can cause wheezing, coughing and irritation when it comes into contact with the skin.

Toluene: A chemical often used in paint thinners can affect the nervous system causing headaches and fatigue.

Dibutyl Phthalates (DBPs): Extended exposure to this chemical can cause vomiting, nausea, and dizziness. Long term effects due to over exposure can include kidney and liver damage.

No wonder the ladies at the nail shops wear masks.

Here are some green brands to check out that wont cost you too much green.

Zoya: Longest wearing natural nail polish with over 300 colors
Ivanka, $7

Ginger + Liz Colour Collection: Hip vegan friend and toxin free nail polish brand founded by a model and entrepreneur.
Ivy League, $12

Nubar: Eco friendly UK brand loved by celebs such as Alexandra Burke and Scarlett Johansson. Vegan Friendly.
Conserve, $7.50

Of course, there are plenty of other nail polish brands that are either 3-Free (free of the big three toxins) or vegan friendly on the market such as Urban Decay, N.Y.C Color and American Apparel polishes just to name a few on the mainstream market. If you want to avoid the chemicals do some research and check out the ingredients of some of your favorite brands.
